Vineyards in the UNESCO Prosecco hills at golden hour

Host a retreat in the Prosecco hills

Rows of vines climbing steep hills, a village church on every ridge, a cellar door that opens for you in the afternoon. This is where terra retreat is based. We know the winemakers by name, and we know which terrace gets the morning light.

Plan your retreat here

Why the Prosecco hills

The hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene are a UNESCO World Heritage site, and they still feel like a place where people live and work. Vines are tended by hand because the slopes are too steep for machines. Villages are small. Dinners are long.

For a retreat, this means a place that slows the group down without trying. You practise on a lawn between the vines, walk to a winery for lunch, and come back for a sunset session with the whole valley in front of you. Forty minutes from Venice airport, and nobody will believe you.

This is home for us. Everything here is a phone call away.

The places we work with

Each village has its own light and its own rhythm. Here is how we use them.

Conegliano

The gateway to the hills and our base. A walled old town with a castle on top, a wine school from 1876 and a station with direct trains from Venice. Good for arrivals, a first aperitivo and the one evening your group wants a proper town.

Valdobbiadene

The heart of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The steepest vineyards, the smallest producers, the famous Cartizze hill. Tastings here are with the family who made the wine, often in the kitchen.

Cison di Valmarino

One of the most beautiful villages in Italy, with a castle above it and an old mill path through the woods. Quiet, walkable and perfect for a morning practice followed by a slow walk.

Follina

A twelfth-century abbey with a cloister that stays silent even in summer. We use it for meditation sessions and for the kind of afternoon that needs no programme.

Refrontolo and Rolle

Two tiny hamlets on the Prosecco Road. A historic mill by a waterfall in Refrontolo, a hilltop with a ring of vines in Rolle. Our favourite spots for sunset sessions.

Asolo

The town of a hundred horizons, half an hour west. Renaissance villas, a Venetian fortress and a cafe on the square where the whole group can sit outside. A day trip, or a base for a smaller group.

Vittorio Veneto

Where the hills meet the first mountains. Cool water, a fine old town and the first real trails. Useful when a group wants to hike without going all the way to the Dolomites.

Where your group can stay

We choose the venue after we know your group. These are the kinds of places we use.

Wine estates with rooms

Family-run wineries with guest rooms, a garden for the practice and the cellar downstairs. Breakfast with the owners. The most typical choice here.

8 to 16 people

Country houses and villas

Restored farmhouses and small villas with a pool, a kitchen we can book a chef into, and the vines at the end of the lawn. Private, exclusive use.

10 to 20 people

Boutique hotels and relais

For groups who want their own room, a spa and someone else to think about everything. Usually on the edge of a village, a few minutes from the vineyards.

20 to 30 people

Day venues

Wineries, gardens and a historic mill we use for single-day events. Practice space, lunch and a tasting in one place.

up to 60 people

Beyond the practice

Tastings with the producer

Not a tour. A table in the cellar with the person who made the wine, and the bottles that never leave the valley.

E-bike between the vines

The Prosecco Road by e-bike, village to village, with a stop for lunch. The hills are steep, the motor helps, everyone arrives smiling.

Cooking in a farmhouse kitchen

Fresh pasta, seasonal vegetables, the recipes of the women who run the agriturismo. Then you eat what you made, together.

Walks to abbeys and mills

Short trails linking Follina, Cison and the old mill path. Easy, green and quiet. Ideal for a silent morning walk.

Reformer in the vineyards

We can bring reformers into a winery barn or onto a terrace and enjoy the view during our practice.

An afternoon at the spa

Some of the estates and relais we use have their own spa. Where they do not, we bring massages and treatments to the venue. An afternoon of warm water and nothing to do.

When to come

The hills work most of the year. Spring and autumn are the seasons we recommend first.

March to May
Vines waking up, wisteria on the pergolas, cool mornings for the practice. Our favourite time.
June to August
Warm and green. Early practice, long lunches in the shade, evenings outside until late. Book early, the best villas go first.
September to October
The harvest. Grapes in the cellars, golden light, the valley at its busiest and most beautiful. Book well ahead.
November to February
Quiet and misty. Fireplaces, cellars, fewer people. Good for a small group that wants to go inward.

Questions about retreats in the Prosecco hills

Is Prosecco only about wine?

No. The wine is the reason the hills look the way they do, but a retreat here is about the landscape, the villages and the food. Tastings are optional and can be replaced with cooking, walking or nothing at all.

Can we practise outdoors?

Yes, from spring to autumn almost every day. Lawns between the vines, terraces, a cloister. Every venue we use also has an indoor space for rain or heat.

How far is it from Venice?

Forty to fifty minutes by car, one hour by direct train to Conegliano. Many groups add a day in Venice at the start or the end.

Can a single-day event work here?

Very well. A morning of Pilates, a tasting and lunch at the winery, and everyone is home by evening. Studios from Veneto and from abroad use this format often.

Do you work with reformer Pilates here?

Yes. We can bring the equipment into a barn, a hall or onto a covered terrace. Tell us how many reformers you need.
